"For the birth of my first child last year, I took 2 of the first 3 weeks of my paternity leave directly after his birth. I think it was perfect both for my wife and me. I was able to be here during these very challenging first days as our life is entirely upside down all of a sudden! Personally, it was essential for me to be there at the very beginning with my newborn baby. I then took the last week a month after. Professionally, this paternity leave did not impact me negatively; it was quite the opposite, as it gave me the chance to adapt and get used to this "new life" before returning to work."
